Administrative Officer and Executive Officer II applicants reminded to apply for Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test
The Government will conduct the next round of recruitment exercise for the posts of Administrative Officer (AO) and Executive Officer II (EOII) in September.
Applicants for either or both of the AO and EOII posts will need to have obtained 'Level 2' results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) (or equivalent results) and a pass result in the Aptitude Test paper in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) as part of the entry requirements for the posts. In addition, the Basic Law Test (BLT) result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate. However, the BLT result will not affect a candidate's eligibility for applying for the AO and/or EOII posts.
The CRE and BLT will be held in Hong Kong on a Saturday in October and standalone BLT will be held in Hong Kong on a Saturday in December. The application period for both of these two local examinations will run from August 7 to 20.
To facilitate those studying or residing outside Hong Kong, the CRE and BLT and standalone BLT will also be held on the same Saturday in December in Beijing and six overseas cities, namely London, San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Vancouver and Sydney. The application period for these two non-local examinations will run from September 22 to October 5.
Applicants who wish to apply for the AO and/or EOII posts in the 2009/10 recruitment exercises but do not possess the requisite CRE or equivalent results at the time of application, as well as those who wish to sit for the coming BLT, MUST file a separate application for taking the relevant CRE and/or BLT paper(s) during the suitable application period mentioned above. Applicants for the AO and/or EOII posts will NOT be automatically arranged to attend the upcoming CRE and BLT or standalone BLT. Applicants may only apply to sit for the examination in EITHER Hong Kong OR any one of the above seven cities outside Hong Kong (i.e. Beijing and six overseas cities), but not both.
Application details and on-line application facilities will be available at the website of the Civil Service Bureau (www.csb.gov.hk) during the said application periods, while details of the 2009/10 AO/EOII recruitment exercises will be announced in September.
