Use of Government Holiday Bungalows
Pensioners may apply for using government holiday bungalows at Cheung Sha (Lantau Island) and Tai Mei Tuk (Tai Po) on Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays). The aim is to provide additional recreational facilities for pensioners. Subject to the availability of bungalows, each pensioner may apply for a maximum period of three days (two nights) each month.
How to apply
Applications should be made by telephone reservation and bungalows will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please call the Quartering Office at 2810 3935 starting from the 20th day in the month preceding the intended period of use.
For example, telephone reservation will be accepted starting from 20 July for occupancy in August. The commencement date for booking will be postponed to the next working day if that day is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday.
Application form
Applicants who have made their reservations would receive an application form. Please return the completed form with copies of Hong Kong Identity Card and proof of retirement to the Quartering Office by the specified deadline to confirm the reservation.
Rental charge
The daily rental charge is HK$171 per night per bungalow. Applicants who have their reservations confirmed would receive a payment notification. Please follow the instructions to settle the rental charge by the specified deadline and present the payment record (in hard copy or electronic copy) upon check-in.
No withdrawal of application nor transfer of allocated slot will be accepted once the payment is made. Save for the reasons set out in the following paragraph, rental charge will not be refunded even if the applicant chooses not to occupy the bungalow as scheduled.
Closure of holiday bungalows
All holiday bungalows will be closed when the Hong Kong Observatory issues Strong Wind Signal No. 3 or higher or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, or during the period of “extreme conditions” as announced by the Government. Separately, the Tai Mei Tuk Holiday Bungalows may be closed and deployed for other purposes by Government in case of emergency. Occupants may be requested to vacate the bungalows within a short period of time. Allocatees, if in doubt, should call the respective management office of holiday bungalows before heading to the site. Rental charge for holiday bungalows will be refunded to affected allocatees whose visits are cancelled or shortened as a result of the closure.
Check-in/out time
Allocatees are required to personally check in at the site management office with their Hong Kong Identity Card. The check-in time for bungalows is from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and the check-out-time is from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
